Brenneman Leaving for Assistant Position at Purdue
DALLAS – Dallas College Richland head baseball coach Jimmy Brenneman resigned to take an assistant coaching position at Purdue University.
"I really enjoyed my time at Richland," Brenneman said. "It was a great environment, working with the athletic staff there. I made a lot of great relationships. I'm glad we were able to get Richland back to the World Series twice after not going for over 15 years."
Brenneman went 117-66 in three seasons at Richland, winning 37 or more games each year. His teams advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series semifinals in 2024 and 2025 after winning the South Central District Tournament titles both years. His players earned five NJCAA Division III All-America honors in his three years at the helm.
Brenneman was named the American Baseball Coaches Association/ATEC NJCAA Division III South Central Regional Coach of the Year in 2024 and 2025. His 2024 team went 42-20 with a trip to the NJCAA Division III World Series semifinals. The Thunderducks were 38-24 with a repeat trip to the national semifinals this past season.
He has an overall head coaching record of 176-120 in five years, which include two at Frontier Community College.
At Purdue, he will serve as the outfield and base running coach, and will assist the hitting coach. He will also coach first base.
"I am excited and really looking forward to joining the Purdue baseball program," Brenneman said. "They have a great coaching staff, and I'm looking forward to helping the program win a Big 10 championship."
Brenneman will be reunited with Purdue head coach Greg Goff, whom he played for at Campbell University from 2011-12. The Boilermakers went 31-23 in 2025.
