Solis Named DAC Hitter of Week
IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Richland's Caleb Solis has been selected as the Dallas Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.
A sophomore catcher from Lake Jackson, Texas, Solis batted .417, going 5 for 12 with two home runs, a double, nine runs batted in, six runs scored and five walks as Richland went 3-1-1 against National Junior College Athletic Association Division I opponents last week. He reached base safely 14 times over the five games, and was responsible for producing 13 runs during the week. Behind the plate in three games, he threw out three runners attempting to steal.
Solis went 2 for 3 with a solo home run in the first game of a doubleheader sweep of Clarendon College. He was 1 for 3 with two RBI in the second game. He doubled, drove in three runs and walked twice in a 15-15 tie in the second game of a twin bill with Galveston College. In the first game, he had a homer, three RBI and a walk.
Solis is hitting .367 with two home runs, three doubles and 14 RBI this season.
Following Monday's nonconference game at Ranger College, Richland (6-6-1) opens league play at home against Dallas College Mountain View 12 p.m. Wednesday. The Thunderducks will play the final two games of the series at Mountain View (5-8) Friday and Saturday.
