Richland Survives Cedar Valley, Moves into Second in League
LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Richland's baseball team moved into second place in the Dallas Athletic Conference after winning the third game of its series with Dallas College Cedar Valley Friday 17-16.
Richland rallied from a 16-13 deficit in the ninth inning to score four runs and take the lead, and hold on.
The Thunderducks (22-23-1, 14-10 DAC) have a one-game lead over Dallas College Brookhaven (20-25, 13-11) entering the final two series of the regular season. Richland moved within a game of .500 overall. It was the Thunderducks fifth conference series win of the season. They won the opener 12-6.
Cedar Valley's Kai Kirchheiner collected four of the Suns' 18 hits in the series finale. He ripped three doubles to boost his season total to 15. Julio Cuotto was 3 for 5 with three RBI. Anthony Fuentes, Hudson Davis, Rendon Garcia and Carson Daniels each had two hits, and combined to drive in six runs.
Richland plays at Panola College 1 p.m. Monday before beginning a three-game series with DAC regular season champion and No. 1 nationally-ranked Dallas College Eastfield (37-11, 21-3) on the road 12 p.m. Wednesday.
