Willis Named DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Richland's DJ Willis was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 6-foot-3 sophomore guard from Mesquite, Texas, Willis scored 30 points in two games, and averaged 26 points in three wins for the No. 1-ranked Thunderducks last week. He also had seven rebounds in two games, averaging 4.7 in the three wins, while adding seven assists, five steals and four blocks. Willis had 30 points on 12-of-18 shooting, including 6 for 10 from the three-point line, seven rebounds, two steals, two blocks and two assists in Richland's 96-69 win over Dallas College Mountain View. He had 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including 6 for 11 from the 3-point line, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks in a 95-66 win over Dallas College Brookhaven. He also had 18 points, going 4 for 10 from long range and 4 for 4 from the free throw line, in a 91-81 road win over No. 7 Dallas College North Lake.

Willis is averaging 13.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

Richland (18-6, 11-0 DAC) plays at Dallas College Cedar Valley (4-19, 1-10) at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the DAC Game of the Week on the DAC Sports Network.
