Richland Wins DAC Opener

DALLAS – Dallas College Richland men's soccer team beat Dallas College Mountain View 2-0 Wednesday in the Thunderducks' Dallas Athletic Conference opener.

The Thunderducks, ranked No. 1 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, improved to 5-0-1 overall, 1-0-0 in the league this season. It was Richland's 49^th consecutive conference victory.

Dubbie Cannon scored in the 60^th minute to break a scoreless tie. Maximilian Vega added an insurance goal in the 75^th minute to extend the lead to 2-0.

It was Cannon's first goal of the season, and his first game winner. Vega notched his second goal this year.

Thunderducks keeper Victor Gomez stopped three shots in the shutout. It was his third clean sheet of the season.

Richland plays at Dallas College Cedar Valley 4 p.m. next Wednesday.
