Alberto Rodriguez was named Dallas College Richland's assistant men's soccer coach in 2019.

Rodriguez helped coach the Thunderducks to a 13-3-1 overall, 4-0-0 Dallas Athletic Conference record in 2025, finishing as the national runner-up for the second straight year. Richland fell in penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw with Mohawk Valley Community College in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III championship match. The Thunderducks won the NJCAA Division III South District title for a second straight year, beating Dallas College Mountain View 6-2. Five Thunderducks earned NJCAA Division III All-America awards, including three First Team selections in Alexis Cruz, Charles Chimezie and Victor Gomez. Dubbie Cannon, Jose Infante and Luc Van Der Kamp, Cruz and Chimezie were NJCAA All-Academic recipients. Cruz and Chimezie were College Sports Communicators Academic All-District winners.

In 2024, Richland went 14-3-3 overall, 4-0 in the DAC, advancing to the NJCAA Division III national championship game for the ninth straight year. The Thunderducks fell 2-1 in overtime to Mohawk Valley Community College in the title game. Richland beat Camden County College 3-2 in double overtime in the national semifinals. The Thunderducks defeated Dallas College Mountain View 3-1 to capture the NJCAA Division III South District championship. Joseph Min and Emmanuel Carmona were NJCAA Division III First Team All-Americans. Jose Diaz and Enrique Alvarez were Second Team All-Americans.

In 2023, Rodriguez coached on a staff that won its sixth straight NJCAA Division III national championship. The Thunderducks went 12-3-1 overall, 4-0 in the DAC en route to winning the title. Felipe Escorcia, Luis Vargas and Joseph Musungaie were named NJCAA Division III First Team All-Americans, while Min was a Second Team All-American.

In 2022, Rodriguez helped lead Richland to its fifth straight NJCAA Division III national championship, beating Genesee Community College 2-0. Richland was 16-0-1, 4-0 in the DAC. The Thunderducks won their last 14 games. Richland extended its unbeaten streak to 75 consecutive games, dating back to Sept. 25, 2018.

Rodriguez was part of a staff that helped lead Richland to its fourth consecutive NJCAA Division III national title in 2021. The Thunderducks went 17-0-1, defeating Herkimer College, 2-0, in the national championship game. The Thunderducks won their last 17 games in the unbeaten season. 

Rodriguez began playing professionally with the Dallas Sidekicks in the Major Arena Soccer League in 2023.

Rodriguez was a teammate of Thunderducks head coach Raul Herrera at Richland, where he helped the Thunderducks win the 2006 NJCAA National Championship against archrival Herkimer College. Rodriguez scored a hat trick in the national final, securing the program's fourth national championship.

Rodriguez transferred to Midwestern State University after his time at Richland. During his senior year at MSU, he was awarded NCAA Division II First Team All-American after leading the team in goals (17) and points (42).

Rodriguez played for the men’s amateur team, NTX Rayados after graduating from Midwestern State. Rodriguez has helped lead the NTX Rayados to a record nine straight U.S. Open Cup appearances. He led the NTX team with two goals in an upset victory over the professional United Soccer League team, Oklahoma City Energy, in 2018. That year, the amateur side advanced to the fourth round of the Open Cup, and earned the opportunity to face Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo.

Rodriguez is originally from Monterrey, Mexico, and grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas. He earned his associate's degree from Richland and his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Midwestern State University.

Outside of working with the Thunderducks student-athletes, Rodriguez is a physical education teacher at Stevens Park Elementary in Oak Cliff, Texas.
