Thunderducks Women's Hoops Ranked No. 11

NJCAA DIII WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RANKINGS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Richland women's basketball team is ranked No. 11 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll.

The Thunderducks, who entered the week with a 6-1 overall record, earned 35 points in the 15-team national rankings.

Richland sits seven points out of the Top 10. Community College of Rhode Island (4-2) occupies the No. 10 spot with 42 points.

Rochester Community & Technical College (4-3) is ranked No. 1 with nine first place votes and 105 points. Anoka-Ramsey Community College (4-3) is No. 2 with 98 points. Northland Community & Technical College (3-4) is third with 91 points. Minnesota West Community College (5-2) is fourth with 84. Dallas College Cedar Valley (1-5) rounds out the top five with 76.

The Thunderducks are coming off a pair of one-point wins over NJCAA Division II opponents at the Arkansas/Texas Challenge. Richland beat the University of Arkansas Cossatot, 62-61, in a game where starters Kristen Thomas, Sanaa Darensberg and Paris Beard each scored 12 points. The Thunderducks followed that up with a 70-69 win over Southeast Arkansas College. Beard had 26 points, going 6-for-6 from the free throw line, and Darensberg finished with 10, also making all six of the free throws she attempted.

Following Monday's game at NJCAA Division II National Park College to complete a home-and-home series, Richland takes a week break for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Thunderducks return to the court Dec. 3 at East Texas Baptist University Junior Varsity. Richland's next home game is Dec. 5 against Clarendon College.
