Beard Selected as NJCAA DIII Player of Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Richland's Paris Beard was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
A 5-foot-7 sophomore guard from Mount Pleasant, Texas, Beard averaged 20.5 points per game last week as 11th-ranked Richland went 2-1. She scored a season-high 33 in a 98-89 overtime win over Connors State College. She went 11 of 24 from the field, knocking down 3 of 5 triples in the win over the NJCAA Division I opponent. She also had a season-best 13 rebounds, six assists, five steals and a block in the win.
Beard averaged 9.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She scored 22 points on 11 of 22 shooting, grabbed 10 boards, and had five assists and six steals in a 61-55 victory over East Texas Baptist University Junior Varsity.
This season, she's averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game for a Richland team that is off to an 8-3 start. The Thunderducks are off for the holiday break until January 10 when they host the University of Arkansas Cossatot.
