DALLAS – Dallas College Richland's sixth-ranked men's basketball team beat Hill College 78-67 to open December.
The Thunderducks shot 40 percent on 28 field goals. Hill shot 40 percent on 22 field goals. Richland, which improved to 5-6 after the win, attempted 15 more shots than Hill. Both teams made seven three-pointers.
Richland outrebounded Hill 39-33.
Jase Tarver scored a season-high 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting, and had 11 rebounds and two steals for the Tunderducks. DJ Willis had 14 points and four rebounds, while shooting 5 for 10. Tyler Johnson and Joubron Bebe each had 10 points.
Daylyn Martin had 17 points for Hill, which led 38-37 at halftime. Hamzah Abdullahi had 11 points, six boards and three blocks.
Richland begins Dallas Athletic Conference play at home 1 p.m. Saturday against Dallas College Brookhaven.
