No. 6 Thunderducks Win Fifth Straight

DALLAS – Dallas College Richland's No. 6-ranked men's basketball team won its fifth straight game Saturday, beating Dallas College Mountain View 81-66.

The Thunderducks (9-6, 3-0 Dallas Athletic Conference) sit tied atop the league standings with No. 14 Dallas College Eastfield (8-5, 3-0) entering the holiday break. The two teams will meet Jan. 14 in Mesquite, Texas when DAC play resumes.

Jase Tarver scored 24 points, going 11 of 21 from the floor, and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Thunderducks. Andrew Huntley had 13 points, and DJ Willis 11 as three starters scored in double figures.

Richland trailed 39-38 at halftime, but outscored Mountain View 43-27 in the second half.

Anthony Cook had 15 points and eight rebounds for the host Lions (5-12, 0-3). Kaden Richardson scored 13 points.

The Thunderducks shot 47.7 percent, going 31 of 65. They were 4 of 17 from 3-point range and 15 of 22 at the free throw line. Mountain View hit 24 of 54 shots for 44.4 percent. The Lions were 6 of 24 from the 3-point line and 12 of 19 from the free throw stripe.

Richland's Joubron Bebe and Brian Phelps each had 10 points. Bebe grabbed five boards. Cedric Dent had eight assists.

Mountain View's Demondray Spencer had nine points, and Blayke Cook-Edgar eight points, five boards and two steals.

Richland is off until Jan. 9 when it hosts Loyalty College Prep.
