No. 2 Thunderducks Finish First Round of DAC Unbeaten
DALLAS – Andrew Huntley scored a career-high 28 points, and Jase Tarver added 20 as No. 2 Dallas College Richland men's basketball team beat Dallas College North Lake 95-86 Saturday in Dallas Athletic Conference action.
Richland (12-6, 5-0) sits on top of the league standings after one round. The second of three rounds begins Wednesday when the Thunderducks visit Dallas College Brookhaven (8-12, 2-3) for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
Huntley was 8 of 10 from the field, including 5 of 6 from three-point range. He sank all seven free throws he attempted. Tarver hit 7 of 10 field goals, and went 6 for 8 from the free throw line. He grabbed 13 rebounds, and had five assists and three blocks.
Joubron Bebe added 11 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Thunderducks, who shot 46.9 percent from the field. They canned 9 of 21 three-point attempts. Richland was 26 of 34 from the free throw line.
North Lake, which was receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings, was held to 3 of 9 from the 3-point line. The Blazers (11-8, 3-2) shot 41.3 percent from the floor. They were 29 of 44 at the free throw line.
Romiel Carter and Zach Thompson each had 17 points, and Santana Spivey 16 for North Lake. Carter had five rebounds and two steals. Thompson added five boards and three assists, and Spivey four rebounds and two steals. He was 10 for 11 at the free throw line.
Richland outrebounded North Lake 42-35.
